Synopsis of Heat

Written by TK

Max is on a large boat, spying on some guys arguing about who stole the money. She takes off with a backpack. The arguing guys have a big shoot out.

Lydecker pays a visit to Max's private investigator and threatens him with bodily harm if he doesn't give up Max's location. The PI swears he doesn't know where Max is, and begs Lydecker not to hurt him anymore.

Max is at a club with Kendra and Original Cindy. She is basically in heat, drooling over every guy there. She starts talking to this guy named Eric, but then her beeper goes off and she has to leave.

On her way over to Logan's, she explains to us that since her genes were spliced with those of a feline, she can jump over fences really well, but she also basically goes into heat three times a year. It'll be over soon. If she can just keep herself from doing anything stupid for the next twelve hours...

When she gets to Logan's apartment, she finds him finishing his rehab session. He wants to do more, but his rehab coach says not to push it. Max delivers the money that she stole from Solinski, and tells Logan how the thugs all shot each other after the money disappeared. Logan says that means Solinski will no longer be smuggling people out of the country, taking their money, and pushing them overboard ten miles out to sea.

Max heads back to the club and picks up Eric, taking him home. He passes out before she can do anything, however.

In the morning, Max tells Kendra that nothing happened with Eric, but don't tell Eric that. Eric comes out and asks Max if last night was as good for her as it was for him. He's all lovey-dovey, and she says that she has to go to work and to let himself out.

At work, Herbal Thought is complaining to Normal about a delivery that messes up his karma. Sketchy basically has to translate what Herbal is saying for Normal. Max comes in and Normal gives her a package. It's a gift from Eric, and it's motor oil, which is very hard to come by these days. Eyes Only comes on on TV announcing that Solinski has gotten his just desserts. Max's beeper goes off.

Max shows up at Logan's. Logan tells her that he's found Hannah, the woman who picked her up on the road when she escaped from Manticore. Hannah was a dietician at Manticore, and along with all other Manticore personnel was transferred in May of '09, only three months after Max's escape. Hannah Sukova is now on Sedro Island. Max is excited, and makes plans to go see Hannah, while Logan warns her that she should put together her past piece by piece, and if she goes to see Hannah now, it could ruin everything.

At Max's apartment, Kendra is teaching Japanese to a bunch of kids while Max works on her motorcycle. After Kendra's class is over and the kids leave, Eric comes over. Max isn't too psyched to see him until he brags how he got the motor oil he gave her as a gift: his uncle is in the sector police. Max asks if that means Eric can get through police check points. He says he can.

Max is on her motorcycle with Eric sitting behind her. She's driving fast on an abandoned road, and Eric suggests she turn on her headlight. She says she can see in the dark. They approach a police check point, and she stops and tells Eric to call his uncle. Eric admits that his uncle is actually only a janitor for the sector police. She blasts through the checkpoint.

It's dawn. Max pulls up onto a pier. She looks out at the island and tells Eric she's going there. Eric says they'll need a boat, but Max just leaves him her keys and beeper and jumps into the lake and disappears.

On the island, Max finds Hannah in a small house living by herself. They have a happy reunion. Hannah is happy to see that Max is okay. They reminisce about how Hannah picked up Max on the highway ten years ago and brought the young girl to her house. She went to find help, and when she didn't return promptly (because the area was cordoned off) Max left because she was trained to always keep moving in combat situations. Max remembers how amazed she was by Hannah's house since she had never seen a house before and all she knew was barracks. Hannah says she wants to talk more with Max, so she's going to call into work and tell them that she won't be coming in. Hannah makes the phone call while Max looks around the house.

Logan pages Max. Eric gets the page and calls Logan. Logan is surprised and asks Eric who he is. Eric identifies himself as Max's boyfriend. Logan asks Eric where he is, and Eric describes the island and says that Max just jumped in the water and disappeared.

Max asks Hannah about the surrogate mothers used at Manticore. Hannah says they were fairly young women, recruited and paid and then sent away after delivery. Hannah says she didn't really know them, and never met Max's own mother. Max says she never really knew about families until she got into the real world, and once she learned what mommies were she wondered about her own. Hannah is almost in tears at this point, and Max says it's okay about the phone call. Hannah asks her what she means. Max says it's okay that Hannah called Lydecker and told him that she was here. Hannah can't believe Max knew, and apologizes, saying Lydecker threatened to kill her. Max tells Hannah that Lydecker will kill her anyway, and they both have to get out of this house right now.

Troops storm Hannah's house, but by that time Max and Hannah are already running through the woods. Troops run after them. Hannah keeps stumbling and tells Max to go on without her, but Max won't leave her. Lydecker is flying into the island on a helicopter, and is in communication with the troops.

Logan still has Eric on the phone. He tells Eric that Max is going to need his help. Logan uses his computer to patch into Lydecker's communications.

Max and Hannah find themselves on a dam. They're surrounded. Max grabs Hannah and jumps over the edge of the dam. They hide on a little ledge under the top of the dam. The troops arrive from both sides and can't figure out where Max and Hannah went. Logan, pretending to be the leader of the troops, tells Lydecker that Max and Hannah have been caught. Lydecker tells his troops to come back to base, and the troops leave the dam. Max grabs Hannah and jumps off the dam, swinging down to a rock on a handy dangling rope. When the troops get back to base without Max and Hannah, Lydecker realizes someone was messing with his communications. He tells his troops to make sure no one leaves the island.

Max and Hannah run for shore and find a small motor boat in the water. They jump in, and Max tries to get the motor to start. She's pulling and pulling at the starter. Meanwhile, the troops are getting closer to shore. Suddenly, a big black boat pulls up. Max is still desperately trying to get the little motor boat to work so she can get away from the big black boat. The big black boat pulls up and it turns out to be Eric. Max and Hannah clamber aboard and pull away just in time to be missed by the troops who arrive at the shore.

Later, Eric tells Max that they're very different, and they're going to have to break up. Max tells Eric she'll survive.

Max gets new ID paperwork for Hannah from Logan. She asks Logan if he's ever been to the top of the space needle. He says he hasn't, he's scared of heights. She laughs and says they'll have to do something about that.

Max gives Hannah her new ID paperwork. Hannah says she kinda fibbed about Max's mom before. She did know Max's mom, and in fact, Max's mom tried to run away from the center when she was seven months pregnant, and had to be seriously restrained when she delivered. After Max was born, she was sent to a psychiatric facility. Max is comforted that her mother did love her in a way. Hannah doesn't know what Max's mother's name was, but she says that she was about the same age as Max is now.
